In the world of religion there is no shortage of "WTF" moments, or common misconceptions. But there are many things the devout assume incorrectly. And then there are downright crazy items of information that you wouldn't believe. Let's take a look at some of the more shocking religious facts, in this case mainly relating to Christianity:

Nobody who was alive during the period of Jesus' supposed lifetime, ever wrote a single word about him

While it's impossible to prove someone does not exist, it's certainly worth noting that there are absolutely [A Silence That Screams|no contemporary records] of Jesus of Nazareth existence. Not a single person who would have been alive during his lifetime appears to have known or written anything about the charismatic cult leader. The four gospels are not considered to be eye-witness accounts -- they make reference to events that happened 40+ years after Jesus supposed crucifixion.

King James I, the commissioner of the KJV bible was a notorious homosexual

At the age of thirteen James fell madly in love with his male cousin Esme Stuart whom he made Duke of Lennox. James deferred to Esme to the consternation of his ministers. In 1582 James was kidnapped and forced to issue a proclamation against his lover and send him back to France.
